Spare wheel and rock and roll bed

Hi all.

I have a superb Rusty Lee rock and roll bed fitted. As you may know it is fitted using a substantial spreader plate which is bolted to the chassis.

My problem is getting the spare wheel relocated in the drop down carrier and then bolting it up, the gap between the spreader plate and tyre is too narrow. I’ve spent an hour this afternoon (and failed) trying to get the bolts in to hold the carrier in place.

Anyone else have this problem and how did you resolve it? I’m wondering if I should look for a narrower spare wheel.

There is a pin at the hinge end that you can adjust to a lower position to give you more space. Worth a try.
