Spare Wheel Carrier Fixings Question

good morning members .
I have just bought a new spare wheel carrier bracket as my van did not come with one when bought .
Question i have is related to the small pins that came with it .
I can see that the pin slides through the two holes at the back bracket , but can't help thinking that it might vibrate out when fitted .....is it practise to bend them over slightly to prevent this ...can't help thinking a long thin nut and bolt would be better .

Here's a picture of a factory fitted one - you are referring to this point? The vibrations are damped with just a piece of high-tech :D foam plastic/rubber (about 2 cm x 4 cm) twisted between the pin and the bracket (at orange arrow).
The tyre here is 215/65-16 hence the "lower" position (white arrows).

I threaded the first 2 inches of the pin and secured it with locking nuts.
