Stalled with disptick out???

I have a 2018 petrol t30 this with 44k
At the wkd thought would check the oil, removed the dipstick as usual only the van started to get a faster idle sounding like it was racing. So turned off tried again and stalled. Have not had any issues driving but did feel a slight jump tonight. Does anyone have any ideas what the fault could be?? Not due a service or mot for 6 months. HELP

Are you saying that you pulled the dipstick out while the engine was running??

Put the dipstick back in and forget about it.

As for any fault... take it to someone able to examine the vehicle properly. Diagnosing from afar with such vague symptoms is impossible.

Why are you trying to dip the oil with it running ?

As blow-by gases in crankcase are vented into air intake now missing dipstick creates a bypass passage for unmetered air into engine air intake - definitely confusing engine controller.

Petrol engines need to maintain air/fuel ratio accurately (lean/rich). The ratio is monitored/controlled by numerous sensors/actuators - air mass meter in the intake, throttle valve, lambda sensor in the exhaust, etc.

@mmi I did wonder if that would be the case but don’t have your technical know how to be sure.
