Morning all,

Thinking of Star Link for my home BUT im questioning whether to go for Roam or Residential as I would like the option to take it in the camper with me and possibly work from the van on an occasion.
For those more in the know or have it themselves, what would you go for or is there anything I need to be aware of?

Cheers

Once you move it from your home, you will be forced onto “Roam” - I’m not sure how easy it is to revert to “Residential”

I had a Teams meeting with someone using StarLink Mini whilst in their campervan in Switzerland. Stunning scenery.
What I can tell you is the quality his end was perfect.

Its still fairly expensive but if I could "WFH" then it would be on my list.

its very expensive yeah but im in the sticks in a grade II listed cottage with extremely poor broadband options. Currently using 4G to WFH which works but could do with faster really

The advantage of the 'roam' tarrif is that you can switch the subscription on and off. So if not using for a month you can save the money.

I've got a starlink mini with the roam plan (only the 50g). Can't fault the service 150-250 up speed at all times.

When our contract with Sky is over I'm going to upgrade to unlimited and get a 2nd dish for home.

£150 is steep but when you take out sky costs it's really decent for having 200mb wherever I am.

Currently use it with a little magnetic mount and a Jackery 240.

Thats really good to hear and that magnetic mount looks ideal

I have had the residential version for nearly 12 months. Our connection to the property is garbage so Starlink has been a game-changer and faultless so far, its going to France with us soon.

And when you're parked up at home you could still hook up your devices to it so wouldn't need to pay for home broadband.
