Start failure

Hi all, anyone with any assistance with following please why my T6 won't start:
Battery dead flat because not been started for a couple months, so charged up and errors flashed in dash, airbag fault, engine management and couple others. Rightly or wrongly I disconnected positive terminal when charge initiated because horn was sounding and didn't know how to stop it. Voltage measure 11.5 after charge which should of been enough to crank, sometimes lights flashed on dash and sometimes there was no illumination on dash at all but lights were on? In any case didn't even begin to crank, just dead. Checked battery voltage and dropped to around 5.5 V.
Have I buggered something or do I need the faults erased or could it be the van now doesn't recognise the battery as it had been disconnected. Appreciate any help. TIA

But why didn't it even try to crank when it was at 11. 5 v? Just seemed there was no electrical contact at all to the ignition
Because if it's been that low for a length of time you've dissolved big chunks of the battery plates.

You've done the electrical equivalent of removing 3 of the 4 pistons and then wondering why the engine won't run...
