Hi everyone,

I’ve been reading through @Dellmassive guides and it’s just blowing my mind .

So my current setup is victron Orion dc-dc charger without 240v etc.

My aim is to literally just run 1 wire from my house to my van (traditional camping lead)
just to top the starter and the leisure when sitting on the drive.

Is it just a simple case for me anyways,
240v hook up under the bonnet which is ran to a consumer unit which then runs to bus bars under the seat and earthing point. 1 plug socket from the consumer unit with the Orion blue smart charger plugged in?

Victrons adapter neg to chassis and positive eyelet to starter and away I go.

Thanks in advance

Mark

That would work I think.

Although more usual to charge the Leisure battery with a Victron like that.

I use a CTEK MXS 5 plugged in to the 240v socket, and charging the Starter through the dash 12v socket.

Connect to EHU and away you go.

Does the fag lighter socket get hot when charging this way ?
I normally end up connecting to the battery under the bonnet which obviously isn't quite so waterproof or convenient.

Not so I have noticed. No noticeable visible effect after 4 years of occasional use (usually once a fortnight over winter, up to 13 hours at a time).
