Hi guys. would anyone have an idea as to where this noise is coming from. seems to do it on startup from cold and seems to stop once engine is warm.

2018 with 102k had timing belt done last year at vw.

Thanks

that could be the DMF.

dual mass flywheel.

do another vid clip, but from under the van - near the sump / gearbox bell housing.

Cheers Dellmassive, I'll have a listen from the other side, the noise is very prominent from the timing belt side though.

as soon as I put the revs up from idle and hold it doesn't do it. Just when idling from cold.

- that is 100% symptoms of failing DMF.

rattle when cold,
in park or nutral,
stops when revs raised,

the springs go weak or snap causing the chattering.

when under load or reved, the centrifugal force takes up the free play.
