You’re welcome, lots of useful info here.

You’re welcome, lots of useful info here.

As a Summer/wet tyre I've been impressed with Bridgestone Turanzas on 255/45/18:103 great economy and life cycle..

Hi, im new to Transporter ownership and have a question regarding tyres.

We Collect our Van on Friday and its got what i would describe as lesser known branded tyres on, I've always bought the best tyres i can afford for my cars as its the only contact point to the road, I've all ways cone with Michelins/Continental/goodyear (big names) based on reviews for particular tyres.

My understanding is with our van being a T32 we should have a minimum load rating of 103.

What tyres are people running in 275/40/R20 ?

Any reviews on the Michelin Latitude 3 ? Pirelli P Zero ?

Or what is the favored amongst owners on here ?

Thanks

Adrian

Goodyear Eagle F1's on my T32 and have now done 20,000 miles. Mostly motorways though to be fair but still a few mm tread left!

hi I don’t think you will have 275/40/20 all round if you do the fronts will give you the wrong mph reeding and stick out or rub the inside wheel well

Hi all, I know this has probably been covered many times but I can't find a definitive answer so sorry if thus is a repost.

I have a T32, lwb, 4Motion with 20" wheels, the current tyres are 275/40/20 106 and they're chamfered to the canvas on the inside edge (fronts obvs).
I've only had the van for 3-4 weeks, no history came with it so I have no idea what wheels they are (width/et/j rating) or how much it has been lowered.

From what I've read so far, 275/35/20 >103 seems to be the best choice but it seems they don't make this size/load rated tyre anymore, what are my options?

I have 245/45/20 rated 103 on the front and the 275/40/20 on the rears. Same rolling circumference.
I think some people use a 265/40/20 as an alternative giving you closer to the original circumference.

Thanks for the info all, any idea if I'll get the same wear against the chassis with these options?

You say the tyres are "chamfered to the canvas on the inside edge (fronts obvs)."
It's unlikely to be wearing against the chassis.
As soon as you get the new tyres fitted my advice to you is to get to a reputable and knowledgeable company who can check your tracking / geometry.
This won't be as expensive as scrubbing front tyres out over a year or two and it'll drive better too!

Thanks, I was planning on getting it set up properly after new tyres, there's slightly more wear on the inside half of the tyres, I'm guessing it's camber related since it was lowered but I'll find out after it's been set up

Hi All,

I’ve done loads of reading on this forum and now my brain hurts!

Bought my T32 in December last year. The Vendor had already put the ‘winter tyres’ on it. Not that I’m a cynic, but on inspection the summer tyres were all on the wear indicators.
Now the weather is improving (fingers crossed) I want to put the summer set back on, but I’m going to need new tyres.
The wheels currently have Michelin 275x35xR20 102Y on them.

A couple of queries;
Technically I believe 102’s are not sufficiently load rated for a T32 (10kg/tyre difference?)
I can’t seem to find that size available in a 103(+) rating.
To fill the arch a bit more I was wondering whether I could go to a 275x40x20. Also to put a bit more rubber between the wheel and a kerb! I have found these in a 103 rating.
On checking the ‘35’ set up puts me pretty close to the original circumference and Willtheyfit.com shows the speedo won’t be too far out either.

So here’s my dilemma;

Do I take a chance on 102Y to keep the speedo accurate and know that they will fit, or go with 275x40x20 to have the re-assurance of the correct load rating but stress over my speed every time I see a speed camera. Plus I have the Missus to keep happy!

I’m guessing the previous owner had no issues with the summer set up.

What are everyone’s thoughts?

Thanks,

Phil.

275 40 20 isn't a great size for a Transporter it's too big. Either stick with 35 profile if you need the width, ie your wheels are 10" wide or choose something like 255 40 20 which I run.

No, if you have to put it in for a Class 7 MOT it will fail, and you could have issues with your insurance if the worst happens. Just not worth the risk, IMO.

Thanks for your input guys. Much appreciated.

Think I might go down to 265x40x20. I saw another post that said this was as close to the OEM RR as you’ll get - so no issues with speedo.

Been to my tame tyre dealer today and put a 275 against a 265 and the difference is marginal. Plus the 265x40 should still fill the hole.

Hi everyone
I’m due to buy some new tyres for my wheels 20”
The current size are 245/45ZR20 103W
my van is t32
The tyres on are what garage recommend when I bought wheel and tyre package about 18 months ago and only done about 10-12k miles is that normal ?
Also fitter told me 48psi is that sound high?
Any thoughts advice appreciated
Thanks
Paul
