T5.1 Four Motion Rear Drive shaft Drivers side

I am trying replace the rear Off side wheel bearing but can’t get the drive shaft out. Nearside the driveshaft drops down fine and can be removed but the Off side there is a brace in the way.

Any tips or ideas how it’s removed?

Do you have open diff or lockable diff?

If open, you should have just about enough clearance to push the drive shaft over the rear diff(and bend some undertray covers) to pull the shaft out of the hub and then wiggle it out.

In case of lockable rear diff you'll need to either open the rear bolts of the "subframe" to lower the diff down enough to push the driveshaft over it, or take the spring, strut and control arm out.

@lateski It has a Lockable rear diff. Thanks for the info.

Looks like the removal of the rear arm will be easier i think. Its very different to the other side!
