T5 / T6 tailgate outside handle removal non key barrel type to remove power latch

To fit a new power solenoid means removing the tailgate handle to gain access to the 2 bolts securing the solenoid power latch, there doesn’t seem to be any screws relevant to securing the handle on tailgate inside, so assume the handle is held with plastic lugs ? And somehow is removable from outside? Any help much appreciated. Note the tailgate handle operates a micro switch somewhere behind the solenoid.

From memory the handle is held in by plastic tabs.

If you remove that security plate (3 torx bolts) then that should reveal the handle tabs.
