Good morning all.
Just wondering has anyone encountered this warning message before? It on a 2020 T6.1. When you drive off it goes away but appears again when you stop and start again.
Many thanks 20230816_093705.jpg

A quick Google search came back with this...

"Basically, all Auto/DSG models have a system where you shouldn't be able to take the keys out of the ignition unless the car's left in Park. The sensor that detects if you've left it in P fails and it doesn't know, so it starts warning you on the dashboard."

Thanks Bav. Appreciate the advice. I'll see if I can get any error codes out of Carista when I get home.
Could be a new sensor then..

Booked in to VW Manchester tomorrow. Fingers crossed the Warranty Gods are looking down on me...
(Runs out next week)...

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm in France and the local main dealer wants 169 EUR to do diagnostics only, and they need the van for the day! I'm taking it to a VW specialist tomorrow for him to quote. Hopefully you're experiences will convince him not to dismantle the gearbox .

Well .... strange happenings. While driving to the VW specialist (on Saturday) the Nav was playing up - poor-to-nonexistent GPS signal, which I attributed to meteorological conditions, so resorted to road signs. When we arrived at the destination town I searched the address on Apple Maps on iPhone and found no problem with GPS signals - but I couldn't connect to carplay, which had never been a problem in the past. Annoyingly the dealer was closed, but looked to be a very promising setup. So we decided to try again today.
Thinking about the Carplay and GPS problems, plus earlier thoughts that the problem had occurred after a software update, I decided to look into the updates. I went into the engineering menu and selected software update. Not much happened for a minute or two, so went back to the menu to try a couple of other entries. All seemed fine so exited the engineering menu. The system rebooted, taking longer than it had in the past, and low-and-behold I was asked which multi media I wanted to connect to and was able to reconnect carplay.
Later we set off again to the VW specialist. GPS was now fully functional and there was no warning triangle or "please visit workshop" message.

Thinking this was all down to an update that hadn't been fully installed or a further (corrective) update that had partially downloaded and installing. As the WSBK riders all say -we'll see.

It’s an issue with the park position switch in the gear selector mechanism, it’s most likely coincidence that the events occurred how they did.

Thanks Phil_j89, you're right. The warning triangle returned a coule of days later. Took it to the workshop, and this time the technician confirmed what you said. It's booked in for early January. Still getting several small software updates though.

Out of interest, where do you get these updates from? I've never noticed my van dong one.

If you have a T6.1 there is a built in LTE(4G) connection and software updates arrive automatically over the air.

I don't think that happens for safety critical systems but had quite a few updates to the media software and navigation recently on mine.

I do have a 6.1. How do I spot when the updates are happening.
Cheers.

They don't come up when driving due to distraction. I tend to notice mine as I spend a moment connecting the phones or disconnecting the phones at the start and end of a drive and then you also get a pop up of any new ones.

If not check the notification area as @Phil_j89 notes.
