T6.1 ABS plug opening

Ok , so I’m trying to run my Hill descent control wire. Once I have the plug to here, how do I open it to get the wire in pin 8? I have the crimp wire insert. Van in bits on road and I’m baffled at the last step.

The purple inner piece of plastic is the secondary lock, im not familiar with that plug so cant be specific but the purple piece will move a few mm in one direction and this will allow insertion/removal of individual pins

Often cables can have more than one function and maybe split/spliced in the loom, again im not familiar with this connection or the task you are doing but it may just require the wires to be joined ?

The pins are locked in by two mechanisms: small ledges in each pin and the pink locking tabs that lock group of pins. Pull the tabs out to insert new pins and push them back to lock pins again.

Ok, I can see that, but the tricky part was getting the brown block out of the black shroud. There are 4 tabs that appear to hold it in, but even with those open I couldn’t budge it.

Dang I don’t recall anymore, it’s been few years since I added HDC. Are you sure you have to separate it? I have a vague recollection I might have just dug out the sealing with a hook.

As for the pin 8 it should be correct and unvacated in T6. The diagrams I have are from 12/2018 and should apply for vehicles since June 2015.

I have T6.1, looks like it’s very different in there. It was a possible option from new, looks like I need to look harder at the 6.1 circuit diagrams.

Don’t want to hijack this thread, so apologies if I am. But it’s related. I’m trying to install the same on my T6, but I see no simple ish way to extract the ABS plug far enough to get access to insert the new pins. Can anyone provide tips on how to accomplish this? As far as I can see I’m going to be removing loads of stuff in order to get enough access

Yes, the battery and panel next to it comes out, then loosen off the coolant reservoir and move it to the side.

Ah great, I’m going to give this a try. Thanks a lot. The cable also looks like it’s zip tied in place- this’ll be a real pain to try to get to the ties to cut them. Any pro tips for this?

I’m trying this again but am still stuck. I’ve moved the coolant reservoir and have a bit more space. But still don’t see how to extract the plug.

The fuel filter needs to move out of the way a bit too. Eventually I could get the grey clip opened, and wiggle the connector out. I didn’t need to disconnect any hoses, but there were a couple of electrical connections that needed to come out.
