T6.1 Air Intake Location

Can anyone tell me where the end of the engine air intake is on a T6.1 auto diesel please, I am concerned about the risk of flood water if we have a wet winter.

On the right hand side behind the grill, you’re right to be concerned as it’s quite low down. The air box (filter) is quite high but the inlet isn’t.

Thank you for that, you have confirmed what I suspected and I know of several people that have destroyed there engines in water.

That's useful to know, I'm terribly used to the very high intake on the XC70 in mild flooding situations and is assumed a van intake would be higher.

Like you I also drive a RRS so floods aren’t a big concern but the camper is my wife’s and because it’s high seating position it is easy to forget the air intake may not be as high as a 4x4

Seems incredible that VW managed to position the water scoop so low, takes a lot of effort to design that badly.

I assume this is the same on all t6 diesel engines?
