T6.1 Electric side door issues

We have an ongoing problem where the warning light intermittently flashes and the door malfunctions, only partially opening, sometimes not responding at all.

The van has recently been into VW Bristol for investigation, I was given the answer I expected, that they could not find a fault at that time, since then I have been out in the van twice both occasions the fault has manifested itself.

A couple of questions

1. What should my next step be, as I want this sorted under warranty?
2. Anyone have any ideal on what the cause maybe (is this a common fault) and what the solution could be?

Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest trying to video the fault, then you have evidence to present to the dealer when you book it in again. At least it is noted already if your warranty is nearing it's end.

This is what I did when the electric doors did the same on our previous Seat Alhambra & the dealer couldn't find the fault.
Yes 'leccy doors' can be problematic, hence why I didn't want them on my T6.1

Thank you!

Get an email chain going between you and service department so you have a record/proof of what’s going on should you need it in the future

Sounds similar to an issue another forum member is having over here, also on a T6.1

If you had a code reader it might be interesting to see if you had similar faults logged. If it's a similar fault it's the door control module shutting the motor down due to over current, most likely due to voltage drop (check the wiring and earth point) or physical drag (check the runners for the brackets and also the state of the rollers/bearings)

At which point do you have the problem, the early stage as the door pops out or the later stage when the door is "out" but sliding back?

I had one of my doors be a bit reluctant to pop out following a service recently which seemed to be due to the drag of the lubricant on the slider brackets.

FYI just remembered of ours on the Alhambra they were always worse when it was cold weather as the motors work harder against things like the rubbers & rollers and any lube as @roadtripper suggests.

They also replaced both anti-trap rubbers as the contacts in those don’t like moisture over time & harden with age & can cause weird faults.

That’s not to say it isn’t some other electrical/electronic gremlin though
