T6.1 Halo 9 help!

Afternoon All

Made the mistake of utilising a discount and purchasing the Halo 9 to install myself instead of going through one of the sellers on here. Seemed like a great idea at the time regretting it now as it's not as simple as i'd hoped

I purchased

• Halo 9 (905D)
• KIT-F9VW T61 Alpine installation Kit
• E-Call retention Kit
• ALPINE KWE-CAM1D

....Understanding i still needed the aerial connector (which hasnt arrived yet)

I'm as far as connecting everything up and completely stuck.

So far i have the E Call Retention kit connected to the main car loom. Both of the flat connectors in this adaptor connected into the "box" that comes with it as the image indicated to me in the manual?

I then have the alpine install kit connected into the E-Call retention loom, and that connected to the halo unit.

There is a load of extras in the box i don't think I need - remotes for amps, RCA's, phone mic etc so will ignore the majority for now.

There's a number of connections on the loom I'm not able to conect to anything and again don't think i need too which is fine.

• I have sound and can play bluetooth audio fine, all switches on fine and off etc.
• I can't connect carplay beleive this is because i don't have the aerial adaptor yet?
• I have no reverse camera - the connector I have doesnt appear to fit any of the original cables that were connected to the standard HU.
• Steering wheel controls don't appear to work either?

Has anyone else managed to install one themselves that can give me some pointers before I reach out to @Absolut5 and apologise for not coming direct to him in the first place....

I installed the 11” halo with pretty much the same setup as you

If you go into the settings of the unit and look at CAN interface does it show as connected?

For the camera, I repinned the cable so that it connected to the alpine loom, or you can buy a oversized adaptor like this

If you go into the settings of the unit and look at CAN interface does it show as connected?

No it doesn’t, which is why I’m guessing the steering wheel controls aren’t working etc. also have no vehicle settings on screen to access either.

So assume I’ve missed a connection somewhere

If you have no dab adapter then this will not affect CarPlay, do you have CarPlay when plugged into the black usb ?

No 2 is the can interface plug for parking sensor and mfs feature, in your alpine halo kit there is a lead with this plug and a long green wire that needs connect to number 4

No 9 is the Oe reverse cam connection if you have a aftermarket camera then a adapter is needed from alpine or re-pin or add a plug on

Ps we could have sold you the whole kit, put it all together plus retaining the 2 usb c ports lol

Ok so all back out, reconnected and now have a CAN connection - so car status, wheel controls all work. First bit now done.

The OE reverse camera doesn’t work still - I bought this cable thinking it was the right one but appears not to be



These are the remaining connections from OE head unit - once of which will be connected to aerial adaptor when that arrives. The double black I’m taking to be usb c port cables? What’s that last one?



And this is the remainder of connections at the other end as it stands now

That was the original intention, but I managed to get an absolute bargain on the halo that I couldn’t refuse. Seemed like a great idea at the time

Black is dab, white is fm, beige is old usb (cannot use it)
