T6.1 New Subwoofer Location placement Driver side behind sliding door

Hey Everyone!

This is my very first post here, and I couldn’t find any threads on the specific setup I’m working on. So, I figured I’d start my own! Either I’ll learn from you pros and adjust my plans, or I’ll dive in headfirst and share my victories (or epic fails) along the way.

Here’s the goal: super-fast, strong bass. The catch? My accountant-wife-approved budget (and space). For now, I’m allowed two 10” subs in the back. But… I’ve secretly planned a 12” sub in the center console, purely because it looks amazing (shh, don’t tell!).

Here’s what I’m working with:
• Van: 2020 T6.1 LWB Barn doors with dual sliding doors
• Constraints: Rear aircon unit, so no dual wheel arch sub boxes for me
• Head Unit: Mekede Dudu 7 (I bought this as it seemed to be the only HU that allows up to 512 GB HDD space for music downloads. Spotify etc hog my phones space etc and no other radio seemed to allow for an external hdd to be added? Perhaps a new thread?
• Speakers: Alpine 8” in the doors + Alpine tweeters
• Subs: 2 x InPhase 10” subs (1 x secret Kenwood 12” sub)
• Amp: Dedicated purely to the subs
• Extras so far: Covered everything I could with Dodo matting and sound absorber. Turns out I missed the outer sliding rail… now it vibrates Anyone fixed this HOW DID YOU DO IT?

Still on the wish list:
1. Rear midrange speakers (thinking rear top-mounted?)
2. An amp to drive the tweeters, door speakers, and those rear mids

What I’ve done so far:

I’ve mocked up the new sub placements using some highly technical CAD (cardboard-aided design ️). Built a hardwood prototype to test things out.

The Plan:

Fine-tune this mockup, then have it professionally shaped and fitted to match the exact air/box size requirements of the speakers.
Any tips? Have you tackled something like this in a van before? I’m open to ideas—especially if you’ve been there, done that, and have the T-shirt.

In the end, I just want this setup to crush deep bass for those post-surf beats—or be super chill when I need a zen moment.
Hit me up with your thoughts, and let’s make some noise (or reduce it)!

Cheers!
