T6.1 Random button….

Hi all,
Just picked up a used T6.1 and getting familiar with things. This button on the left looks like an add on but I havent got a clue what its for.
I haven’t checked yet to see if its even wired but wondering if it looks familiar to anyone?
Anyone have any ideas before I start ripping things apart?

The switch may be an add on but the mounting position is moulded into the panel. I don't think mine has anything there but given position might have been used for headlamp level adjuster in a halogen headlamp van (assuming yours is LED)

Often a single additional switch turns out to be a basic cabin heater - is yours fitted with one? There are likely additional vents if so possibly around the seat bases?

Definitely an add on, it’s usually just a black blank plate. On my old van I mounted my audison amp sub-level knob on it.
I guess try turning it on/off and see if anything happens.

There is no evidence of a heater or anything having been in the van previously.
Switching it on doesnt seem to do anything, if it does then it wasnt an ejector seat or anything else as obvious.

I will do a bit of further research and see if there is any wiring on the switch itself. If it is wired I will check under the seat and the usual lighting locations and see where it ends.

Cheers for the suggestions.

It looks like someone has cut a notch out of the bottom of the blanking plate so maybe a cable or usb lead at some point?? I would pull it out and see if it’s still connected to anything.

Good call, you might even be able to see with a torch/mirror or phone camera if you pop out the cover just below?

Has our chap tried it with the headlamps switched on?

If he has and still nothing, then its reasonable to conclude that whatever function the switch exists to serve has been removed or disabled.

I had something similar on my MH. I think it was something to do with isolating an alarm sensor to prevent activations when sleeping overnight with the vehicle locked by the fob.
Although I must admit, I never switched it on ;)

In my T6 Highline Kombi there’s a button hiding behind the driver’s seatbelt, below the B pillar;

I have just been lazy asking on here to be honest in the small hope that someone said it was a common added feature of some sort. I did suspect that it was most likely a random addition.
I will need to get in about it and see whats lying underneath.

I've checked around inside and out with it on. Nothing obvious happens.
