T6.1 tailgate power latch

Hi all I've seen few threads re the power latch not pulling the door in fully. Mine started today VW say cant get in till end Jan! VW assist saying door needs adjusting but cant answer why it would go out of alignment. Has anyone resolved the issue. The VW tech said the Motor maybe faulty as not pulling in the last bit. Any thoughts or fixes much appreciated. If i can buy parts can get fixed elsewhere perhaps
