T6.1 wax under oil cap

Hi

Both mine and my friends T6.1 have a build up of wax looking oil under the oil cap. It's looks like it's caused by condense to me. VW garage near us says they have never seen it, had anybody else seen this and is it normal?

Ok thanks. We do long journey as they are work vans, easy 500+ miles a week. I have just brought a T6.1 for personal and that will only do short journeys but only had for a week. Will see if it happens after a bit.
It's hard to believe both vans would have a problem. I will monitor the coolant as well, thank you.

It is normal, I cleared the goo from the filler neck before driving to the Alps last week. After driving 1300 miles over two long journeys there is muck in the filler neck again and no coolant loss.

When I first noticed this after buying my van two years ago I had that horrible sinking feeling in my stomach but after checking on here it is to be expected on these engines.

Mine’s the same. I thought they all did it due to the length of the filler neck. Also it’s not as much as it looks because there’s a flat lip just inside that filler neck.

Mines the same, came as quite a shock originally but I'm used to it now. I clear it out every couple of weeks, but I only do long journeys so I don't think its a short journey thing.

Hi, my T6 had that in the pipe and around the screw cap, I was a bit worried, but after a few long journeys I checked it with the intention of cleaning it out, but to my surprise it had all burnt off (I’m guessing there) but it’s as clean as a whistle. I don’t go over 1500rpm just chuck around, my assumption is that once it’s up to temperature it works as designed and cycles properly, in the month and 2000plus miles it’s gone and I have yet to see any EGR/DPF regen light or process take place, so again my assumption is that it likes being run, doesn’t have to be 3k rpm for 3 minutes, just a nice normal run out and let it get up to temperature.
