T6 8 seater

Hi,

such a nice forum!
I would like to buy myself a T6 Caravelle which obviously comes as a 7 seater. Is it actually possible to put another seat in to upgrade it to a 8 seater if i need one more seat?

Many thanks for your help

Regards

Yes I think so, you may need to change airbag as they come with twin airbag.

You'll need the four extra posts and nuts to mount the double bench in. There are four pairs (front and rear) posts to locate and mount the bench seat to. My guess is the holes will be there but not the posts. If you are buying the bench second hand, ask the seller for the nuts and posts. FYI, the posts are threaded bars which screw into the cabin and then are used to secure the bench seat down with nuts.

You can get 8 seats with a Kombi too, mine has 1+1 front row, 2+1 middle row and 3 back row. The back row is a Streamline bed with integrated belts etc.

In the winter we tend to run 8 seats and then in the summer we run with the middle row removed to use the bed and give more space.

Many thanks for your message and help. But if i would buy a double bench second hand, could i install it in the back when i would remove one of the seat?

ah cool, so the caravelle could also easily take 2+1 in the middle row? i just need to buy a double seater right?

Not sure on the Caravelle with sliding seats, I’ve not been up close to one, only the Kombi.

I guess some pics of your current seats - front, middle and rear would help advise (incl the floor to determine which bracket type you have currently).

If you have a genuine UK Caravelle (not a European one which is a Shuttle over here) with the sliding rails then a double from the front or the triple singles from a shuttle etc will not fit in the rear without some effort - I am sure it is possible but I suspect challenging as the rails are likely just where any brackets might need to go.

I think your only practical option is the double up front.

However as Paynewright has said, photos speak a thousand words and will clear up and issues.

Would another 3 seater bench fit in, in place of the 2 singles?
Yes, but it would make access to the rear bench awkward.

Another option would be to have a third single mid mounted between rows 2 and 3, Giving you a 2-2-1-3 formation. You'd need to remove the table and legroom in the centre of the rear bench would be tight, but if it's for someone with little legs, it might be the simplest solution.

Thats a grat idea if that works. Beceause 2 seat would be actually anyway for smaller kids.

Hi Civi I know I am late to the party but have you put three seats in the middle? The reason I ask is I’m purchasing a caravelle that has this configuration already and would be happy to swap the middle 2+1 seats it’s coming with for your captain chairs?
