T6 DSG Drive shaft replacement under warranty - Any Success with dealer?

Hi, has anyone successfully had drive shafts replaced under VW warranty? The splines on mine have suffered the commonly known stripping due to the poor design and letting water in, hence corrosion.

Is there a Technical Product note from VW relating to this?

Any information on success would be much appreciated.

Hi,
I had extended warranty but they refused to carry out the work stating corrosion and wear a tear. The policy wording in the warranty around corrosion only seems to apply to bodywork. Basically I got nowhere with warranty.
The dealer however was quite good and managed to get a contribution from VW and the dealer themselves. Ended up me paying about 30% of the total bill so not too bad in the end.

Now DSG's are suffering this same O/S driveshaft issue, it shows the problem is caused by transfer shaft wobbling around on the rubber bushed centre bearing, and wearing out the splines. Effectively, there is nothing to compensate for any misalignment of the transfer shaft, and any movement within the rubber bushed bearing, the only thing that can move, is the splines. The DSG is a completely different set up to the manual boxes, there is no stub shaft, the male splines are on the end of the transfer shaft, and plug into a female spline deep inside the differential side gear, well away from any water ingress and corrosion. If a third CV joint had been fitted to the gearbox end (same as the N/S) this problem would never happen.

I can’t imagine any engineer designing this to be assembled dry. Totally abysmal engineering.

That's very surprising! The only DSG's I've come across with stripped splines have been the usual O/S with a perfect N/S.
I have never seen or heard of a manual gearbox driveshaft N/S splines strip, just absolutely dozens of the O/S. - 5sp, 6sp, T5, T5.1, T6, undertray fitted or no undertray fitted, the only common denominator is the wretched transfer shaft.
Perhaps your nearside was installed dry, or was a faulty one with a loose fit?
