Evening all,

Having joined the world of VW Transporters and lucky enough to get a T6 Factory Kombi.

I am now in the process of sound deadening the inside. I am using Silent coat 2mm at moment and it's going well. It will be followed up by Dodo thermal lining. However, I can see that VW have stuck various foam pads in the rear panels.

My question is can I pull them off as I don't think they do anything and do I have to scrape all the glue and residue left behind before sticking a sheet of silent coat on, or can I just stick it on top of the residue?

Thanks in advance.

i just stuck mine over the top......

if you want to remove them, you can, BUT BE CAREFUL with the scraper and heatgun as you could make a mark on the panel that will be visible from outside !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the quick replies. I've pulled the foam off and the photo should show what I'm left with. I've decided just to leave the residue behind and stick the silent coat on top of it. Job done. I think my problem is I'm being too fussy cos it's my first ever Transporter! Besides the Dodo thermal lining is going on top of it anyway, so it won't be seen and act as an extra adhesive to stop it peeling away.
