T6 Main Beam Not Staying On

Do you have High beam assist switched on?

Hi I don’t think it has it but I’m not 100% sure

You get an A over the beam light indicator.

Ok if we assume it hasn’t got assist do I need to get someone to run diagnostics or could it be the stalk?

Yes that would be the next step but if the high beam relay in the BCM has failed not sure if a scan would pick it up ??

The stalk is only a momentary push so it would be a controller issue.
VCDS can test the status and operation of the switches.

I just went out and tested mine, switched the lights to the Auto position and pushed the stalk away once and get this.


Pressed it away a second time and the full-beam came on and stayed on.

Hi Sounds like the switch will be ok I'm going to look at it tomorrow are there and pin tests I can do as it sounds like the relay is not staying over or that the controller is not holding the relay ?? any info to what I need to test /check would be much appreciated

I have the same issue with my 2016 van.

Interesting , just picked up a T6 from Holland . No main beam. Flashes ok (blue light) but no main beam tried everything , just reading this thread. Will try the in Auto position and stalk push twice see if I have high assist not convinced but hopeful
or any suggestions other than VW dealer ?

Hi, Pauly, it is , as probably all the same issue.. if I hadn’t just driven 9 hours I’d investigate it a bit
I will post up what I find.

I have tried auto , and on to the right… vans having its control now so I can import to France. Hope it passes, will have another look later .

Try a simple BCU reset first by disconnecting the starter battery for a minute.

That’s a bit technical for Friday . standard as far as I know .. 2018 T6 panel .
