T6 Repair query

Hi All,
New to this so you may have to bear with me. I have a query regarding a recent repair to my T6 and would appreciate any comments regarding the following;
The coil warning light came on and my van went into limp mode. Booked it in with my local VW Van centre for a diagnostic. They said it was a fault on the intake manifold and needed a software update. Driving home the light came on again and it went into limp mode. Rebooked it in for a further diagnostic. This time the said it was a faulty vacuum valve on the intake manifold. To replace the unit they needed to strip part of the engine to access the manifold. Driving home the warning light came on again and it went into limp mode so I drove it straight back to the garage. This time they said it was the whole manifold that need replacing and the would have to strip part of the engine again to replace it.
My question is should they have checked the whole unit when the engine was stripped down during the previous repair as the labour cost to replace the unit was only negligibly higher yet I have had to pay for 2 full strip downs?
The garage says this the repair was as per there repair manual. I asked for an extract of the repair manual but they would not provide it.

I’m not a mechanic, but I think it is time for them to fund the 2nd strip down even if only as goodwill. It makes me wonder how they tested their first fix.
