T6 sliding door won’t open from the inside?

2016 T6, new to us.
The sliding door opens fine from outside.
But will not open from inside.
Is there a simple fix.?

Here’s where the child lock is -

Are your doors power-closing or power-latching?
Has the van got any deadlocks installed?
Has the sliding-door had any blinds/shades/curtains/doorcard trim installed?

I’ve seen a couple of people report that when curtains have been fitted, there is a press-stud that can foul the mechanism - just something to consider.

Thanks for these suggestions.
Looks like the lock actuator needs replacing. Took it to a VW shop and they checked things by clicking and looking around with a furrowed brow. There is no child lock on this door. It wouldn’t unlock from the door button. They mentioned it’s a very commmen problem.

(Pricey fix tho’. $450 Aust. Plus $175 labour).
Thanks

Hi, sorry to jump on your thread but I had a new bottom roller bracket fitted yesterday and now the door won't open from the inside! Did yours just stop working? Thanks.

Hi, we bought the van and the problem was already there. Local VW people says the lock actuator we’d replacing and described it as a common problem..

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but I’m having an issue with the sliding door not opening from inside. 2017 T30 Startline.

Can’t find any child lock button on the driver's door

Door opens ok from outside

When I engage the lock at the rear of the door by hand, the inside release works every time without fail. With the door closed it may open one in 10 attempts, if that.

This has only just started happening, nothing has changed with regards fitting any extras for months.

Anyone had similar or have any clues? Door seems to be opening / closing ok

Sods law we’re supposed to be going camping next week!

Update:

WD40 to the rescue! Sprayed the lock mechanism at the rear of the sliding door & now releases every time. Strange it’d open from outside but not inside but at least all seems ok.

Phew!!
