T6 to T6.1 rear barn door wiring

Hi.

I have just replaced both rear doors on my 2016 T6 as they were damaged. The replacement doors came off a 2019 T6.1 The locking mechanism is different as the newer door as electronic actuator to open the door, whereas the older doors had the manual type.

The problem I have is when I now unlock the van on the remote, the rear barn door actually opens (not just unlocks)

The wiring connector was the same, apart from 2 pins inside the plug. See photo.

My question is, can this newer style locking system be wired to work correctly?

Not sure if it’s relevant, but when I converted my T6 barn-doors to a tailgate, I had to run two new wires from the BCM to the tailgate. I wonder if you’ll need to do the same.
@Eddcameron might know.
