T6 won’t start.

Hi,

I have a 2017 T6 VW Transporter 204 Bitdi that is currently off the road and at my local garage.

This all astarted outr a feww weeks ago when I had an engine management lamp on, my OBD2 reader gave me a code for N0.4 Glow plug.

After watching a few Youtube videos I attempted to do the replacement myself, as there was a large amount of stripping down involed I was going to replace all four.

No’s 1&2 came out no problem, No’3 had a pressure sensor I wasn’t aware of and I managed to break the clip and No’4 snapped.

I spoke to a friend who works on them and he say build it back up and it should run without glow plugs run it for a few week putting penetration oil on the siezed snapped plug then have another go.

It would not run, I was going to strip it again but decided to send it to the garage.

They stripped it, removed the snapped glow plug, replaced No’3 and re built it, it wouldn’t start. Then they check timing, comptression and fuell pressure which they said was dropping and it required a new pump and pressure sensors.

I agreed and they ordered parts and installed them and it still won’t start, they now say they have removed the injectors and no fuel is coming out so they now say its looking like the ECU that is faulty.

The guy they use to test them is not available till the 11/11/24.

I know it’s long winded, wanted to put the whole story down. Has anyone any ideas. I have looked at ECU Testing Ltd in Heanor.
Has anyone felt with them, the cost for test and repair is just below half the cost of a new one.

Any constructive thoughts welcome, three weeks in and I’m getting fed up.

Hi there, is there any fault codes stored?
it’s in the local garage, I don’t think there is, if there was I think they would have check it by now. They are just working their way my through things now, starting “cheap”
I have a friend who works on them, plugged bag com in and couldn’t find the ECU he tried a different diagnosis program that could.

I’m not a great believer in coincidences.
Hard to imagine that changing the glow plugs would ruin the fuel pump, and/or the ecu.
My logic says that it’s something that you did while changing the glow plugs.
I had a loose earth that caused my van not to start after I hit a speed hump. Same thing, no fuel to injectors, no comms with ecu, fuel pump not working etc.
I’d be looking at any connections and earth points that you may have disturbed, but I’m no expert,

I know what you mean about coincidence. The fuel pump was running but the pressure was dropping off. As for wiring the only wires disconnected were at the connectors to the intercooler, the injectors, fuel rail and one other, not sure what it went to. It was on the part of the harness to the injectors. First plug on left.
