Tailgate softclose motor not working

So with the new to me van, I’ve noticed the softclose on the tailgate is not working the the tailgate is open slightly, it is looking pretty water damaged so I think it’s unrepairable.
is there a used replacement available from a different vehicle or are they t6 specific?
does anyone have one for sale in the UK?

In a thread some folks found opening the tailgate, starting the engine and then closing the tailgate reset the latch. Worth a try?
