Taking the T6 for a bimble

Because we are newbies to this campervan malarky, we have had an overnight in the van just to make sure it all works as it should. Next step is a short trip, so Jan and I are taking the van off to Cornwall tomorrow for a five days.

This really our first step in implementing our retirement plan, yes I know that 26 is very young to retire. I know it's nowhere near the epic Aussie bimble that Garry is doing but its still a big thing to us.

So we are really looking forward to this trip, Don't expect a day by day blog, but I will pop upbany lessons we learn.

Here goes!

We're off to Cornwall a week on Monday so we'll be just missing you. Leaving one tourist area and invading another one, revenge will be sweet!

Much in the same boat myself, just implementing my retirement plan and I'm only 21 (again!!)., you're a long time dead and I'm buggered if I'm going to spend the best part of the rest of my life making some ungrateful .... rich when I can enjoy my time with my wife.

Have a great time, I'm sure you will, just remember, just chill and enjoy it, even any bad bits, they don't matter, they're all just part of the adventure. Looking forward to some pics

You're retiring at 21 and 26?!
I actually enjoy our work and nor worried about retiring; unless I suddenly made/won/inherited a fortune then I'd be on perma tour around the World!

Did you both win the lottery?!

Ok so nearing the end of our first bimble.
London to St Austell with three stops to stretch our legs was a breeze.
We've now spent nights on three different campsites and have had heavy storms on each!
The weather started off fabulous and turned to appalling as time moved on. We decided that if we enjoy the van in this weather then we'll enjoy it anywhere.

I've learnt a couple of things
We love Cornwall.
We love the high seating position, looking over the hedgerows not at them
The awning needs tie downs, (on order)
also needs a rubber thingy to stop the water dripping down my bloomin neck.
The awning is fab for barbequing in heavy rain - its a breeze.

Cornwall is a fabulous place to take the T6, common as muck around here!

Campsites are all clean and well appointed, and if you like those without all the bells and whistles, they are cheap enough. Just a good shower, sink and loo suits us.

And yes, we love it despite the weather

Sounds good!
Mad weather; did a day of Coastguard training near Port Isaac; one minute we were boiling, the next we were soaked to the bone and freezing!

Cornwall eh! Mad weather or what. We've had brilliant sunshine for a few hours on end, 2 really heavy thunderstorms right overhead at night and on/off rain the whole time.
Still the van coped admirably and we've actually really enjoyed ourselves.
I think its a keeper!

Back in my fire service days, say about 20 years ago we were dealing with a chemical incident on a beach on Anglesey on a July afternoon, it was stinking hot with the sun baking us in our fire kit. At the same time we were looking across the bay to the Lleyn peninsular at some really black looking clouds. Later on the news it said that a small town there (Pwlleli) had been hit with a severe hail storm with hail 2 inches deep on the ground
