Thank you!

First, I'd like to thank all those who have posted so many interesting threads about things I needed to know! We owned a 1976 T2 Bay Window from 2014 to 2022, so knew what an amazing bunch VW Transporter owners are. We started looking for a T6 in February, and there were so many useful threads to follow. Of course, there are many opinions about specs, models, variants - but what was so helpful was to know what to look out for, and what questions to ask. In the end, we have made our decisions, and that's our responsibility. But we've bought our T6 Shuttle SE 150 DSG, an ex-Motability 2019, full VW service history, under 50k miles, no ramp or hoist ever fitted, in Iridium Grey. Our plan is to use it as a day van, to carry family/friends, and bikes, and to make many happy memories together. We're meeting Chris at The Van Cave this Tuesday, with a project plan to customise our van with lowered suspension (not too low!), alloys, all-season tyres, rear spoiler, tints, new front grills and DRLs, heated seats and subtle orange decals.
I will very happily share our experiences if that would be of interest.
Once again, my heartfelt thanks to all those who make this community so welcoming!
Best wishes, Jon

Welcome along Jon!

Sounds like you know what you’re doing, heck of a start you’ve made! I can vouch for Chris & his work after having various things done there myself. You’re in good hands!

Look forward to seeing how you get on over the next few months. Plenty of pictures will be required, or unfortunately it will have all been in vain, as nobody will ever believe you ;)

Thanks Luke! This is the starting point - and just the one decal applied so far! Orange is going to be our chosen highlight colour - our grand-daughter's favourite (and ours too!).
Probably going for Innovit Frixxion 5 20" wheels, 40 to 60mm lowering, Bilstein Komfort shocks...
Cheers,
Jon

You’re most definitely in good hands at the cave.

Decent shopping list to kick things off mate! You’ve had a Transporter before though so I’m guessing you’re already well aware of how fast these things can snowball 😅

Yeah, I need to take advice on this. Chris (at the Van Cave) is reputed to know his suspension set-ups, and my wife and I have a clear idea about the balance we want between comfort and handling. We've had four BMW X1/X2's over the last five years (and yes, I know they're a different beast to Transporters), but we are both keen drivers, and I'm sure we can have an intelligent conversation with Chris about what we want to achieve. We've calculated the minimum and maximum weights we need to carry, so hopefully we can arrive at a sensible conclusion.
And thank you all again for such helpful pointers! It's great to know there is so much knowledge out there!!
