Also remember the great excitement when we got our first colour telly and VHS recorder.
ha ha ha ha ha! When our first colour telly turned up (from Radio rentals!!) I played in the box for a week until it finally fell apart! Our first video recorder didn't happen until waaaaaaaay after everyone else. Dad wasn't a tech person, and we couldn't afford it. Like others though by the looks, he wouldn't let me watch Red Dwarf!
As a result, it's on most weeks now!
Remember those specific baggy pants with two side pockets you could fit your exercise books in and by bending your knees slightly your feet disappeared under them!
We were talking this weekend about growing up....
We climbed trees, sometimes fell out, but didn't die.
We jumped into rivers, lakes, streams and didn't die.
We built carts out of spare wood, boxes and metal, and pushed them down the middle of the road, crashing and often breaking them, but didn't die.
we played football in the park, without parents and didn't die.
We learnt to swing ourselves on the swings, we jumped off at the highest point. We bounced, we didn't die (and it was concrete, not sponge!)
We pushed each other on the swings to see if we could get all the way over!
We went as fast as we could on the roundabout, without seatbelts, and were flung off, we didn't die.
We ate dirt, bugs, sweets that fell on the grass.... guess what?
