THQ Rear LED Lights MOT Question

Evening all. After a bit of advice that’s been puzzling me. l've searched and searched and can't get an answer to my rather particular question!

Mot time next week, and l've got the t6.1 style red smoke thq led rears on my 2018 T6. Mine was factory halogen and so I've only ever had one reverse light of the 2 working (I did contact thq but they said this was just how it is), as that's what l had from factory, and I believe thq don't do the wiring kit that runs from side to side.

My question is, is this a mot fail?! Because from everything I can see, it looks like if a vehicle has 2 rear reverse lights then both need to work. Unless I've got it wrong. But it states

One or two may be fitted, but all must work.

Record a ‘major’ defect if one or more does not work.

Has anyone had any experience with this at all?

Any help would be greatly received as I'm going to have to sort something pronto if that is the case!

As always, MOT regs can be as clear as mud sometimes. I would pass and advise it. Ignore the reason for rejection part of the manual and keep reading. The vehicle has to have at least one reverse light, yours does, so no issues.

Some motors have a dummy reverse light,,fog light etc. So benefit of the doubt would always go to the vehicle presenter.

You need to remember that a reverse light isn't a mega critical lamp when compared to tail and headlights, and also not all vehicles have 2 lamps from the factory anyway

This is great - thanks for all the input. It’s the bit in the MOT that reads ‘One or two may be fitted, but all must work’ that threw me! Sounds like others have been fine though. Thanks a lot.

I've got the smoked ones on our T6.1 and it's passed twice now at two MOT centres so you should be good to go.

If it is mentioned, a quick chat to explain the situation would go a long way. I would argue (politely) that only one is actually fitted per the original specification of the vehicle.

yea this is what I thought. Once again thanks for all your input.

Love this forum - all the advice has saved me from yet another paddy  cheers all
