Evening folks

We're taking a two week trip to stay with friends in Thurso this summer.. from home in Totnes, Devon.

We're not in any rush to get there, and would like to drop by the Lakes, Oban, The Kelpies either on the way up or back home..

Any tips for the midges! Or great sites to stay on or secluded wild camping spots.. we love discreet off grid if we can get away with it..

Any sound advice greatly received

Hi, we did something similar for a holiday in the Orkneys back in 2018 - allowing 4 days each way to see as much as we could.
When planning I always start with searchforsites.co.uk and park4night - Sharing cool places, camping car areas, van

Our first stop was 2 nights at Pooley Bridge Ullswater, giving us time to explore the lakes, and be near to the M6
We had one night in Oban - Brit-stop pub, before heading up the A82 following the Caledonian Canal to Inverness.
The next night was spent at Tain (in a B&B), exploring the Cromarty and Dornoch Firths.

There is so much to see, and depending on your timescales, you could perhaps return via Kielder Forest, Pennies , Yorkshire Dales and Peak District.
Have a great trip.
