Not so much T6 related, but a lot of us tow tin tents with them or own motorhomes too. We just took delivery of a 69 plate, but late 2017 built Bessacarr motorhome with the GRP panels. I could have paid the dealer to apply diamondbrite protection to the panels but knew we had the guru for this work on this forum. Paul travelled up from Leicester on Wednesday and was with me shortly after 7am to get to work. He quickly identified some fading to the rear panel and how the dealer had tried to sort it but had given it a lenticular/hologram type effect. Paul sorted this and some other marks on the grp panels and then applied the sealing product leaving it in better than showroom condition!

When he did the cab he was able to identify some paint damage that I’d missed on collection and a couple of photos later that is now getting sorted by the dealer so another top result!

I can’t recommend Paul and Tourershine highly enough. Very punctual and professional - just give him a 240V supply and a source of hot water (he didn’t need that for mine) and he just gets on with it so I was able to work from home completely without distraction.

Tourershine, can you please let what kind of work you do so that us mere mortals have an idea.

There is a really long winded passionate to myself, but possibly boring answer to others reading my often essay written replies to certain questions.

But, in 'mortal' terms, we offer two services. The first part, which accounts for 75% of my business, is where we take a Caravan or Motorhome that will be constructed from 2 main materials, aluminium or fibreglass. These are very common for going dull, chalky, patchy, yellowing or cloudy, but in general terms they can look 'tired' in a little as 18 months of sun exposure. All normal for these types of materials.
We specialise in Restoring these surfaces back to their factory condition, and educating the owner on how to prevent this from happening again.
Basically we take an old looking Caravan and Motorhome, spend up to 8 hrs with a machine polisher and very specialist products and years of experience with these surfaces, returning the Caravan or Motorhome back to it's 'as new' condition, or if you read many of our reviews, better than when they were new. (There is a simple reason why that term is often described as the result of our work) but that gets long winded also.

The second part of our business, which accounts for the other 25% is what Mark has reviewed. This is where we take a factory fresh (Marks was slightly different, because although his is a brand new Motorhome, it was actually constructed 2 years ago, hence why his needed some Restoration work) this is quite rare, but can happen. But, usually we take a factory fresh Caravan or Motorhome, and apply a specialist product that will add a semi-permanant coating to the surfaces. The job of this product is mainly to block out the suns UV damage, and prevents the fading i've just described above.
Also as part of that service, we inspect every inch of the new purchase for defects, which are common on new units and range from poor quality repairs, cracks, fractures, poor quality PDI work, right down to insane faults like screws protruding through panels, and panels not fitting correctly. This is then reported to the customer and then we instruct the customer on how to deal with their dealer in a way that should yield the best outcome.

My business is in it's 12th year. It's been editorial featured in MMM magazine twice, Caravan magazine twice, we have worked for Lindsey Porter, the guy who wrote all the Haynes manuals, and now featured in his latest book 'How to improve your Caravan' we have letters printed in several magazines from customers on a very regular basis over the years. We are the only company that many magazines recommend when technical questions are asked about the above common damage, including several times directly by the Caravan and Motorhome club. We get calls from dealers picking our brains about certain issues they cannot rectify, manufactures have contacted us several times about preventive issues and now we have a review on the T6 Forum, which is up there with proudest moments
All in all, not a bad little business that consists of myself, and my brother who works for me. The business has deliberately been kept small, because my passion is not making huge sums of money, it's allowing me a life that consists of modifying my T6, a 4 day week, and as many holidays in Europe in my own Motorhome as possible which is my true passion.

Ok, so I did go on a little more than I wanted. ;)

Just to follow up on what Mark is reviewing.
This picture is of my own 2015 Pilote. This is constructed fully from GRP the same as Mark's. I've owned it from new, and I was given access to my Motorhome by the French manufacture and my dealer to be the first person to carry out any work on the exterior. This way I could be sure that nothing has been done to the surfaces, and I take full responsibility for any future issues as agreed with them. I personally prepared and applied our protection to the whole Motorhome. I use only the products we recommend to our customers, so that I can always monitor the performance of the protection. The picture was taken just before our last holiday 7 weeks ago. All I have ever done is wash the Motorhome, it's never been machine polished or touched with any kind of polish, so again, we can monitor the performance of our protection. To put things into perspective, an unprotected Motorhome, constructed from GRP would almost certainly be totally dull and lost it's finish/shine after around 3 years, or even sooner. Mine is the perfect true gauge for us to use as an example. One coat of protection, maintained correctly and still she looks as good as new after only a very quick wash and dry off, added with a little bit of finishing detailing, all in all about 2hrs work, including the roof.
These products get mixed reviews on the internet, but the poor reviews are often based on a car surface, which is totally different and has different scenarios. Any poor reviews on these services directly involving Caravans or Motorhomes, will almost always have a hidden back story, be that the product wasn't applied correctly, wasn't applied at all, or the aftercare either wasn't given, or wasn't adhered to. The picture below proves that categorically.

A very comprehensive reply and I thank you for taking the time to post it. I have a few friends with motorbikes and will pass this on.
Cheers

Just as a follow up, we now have the Bessacarr back from the dealer having had the cab paint damage all sorted. When I originally reported this to the dealer, I made it very clear who had identified these marks and I'm sure that helped the almost immediate response of 'we'll sort it under warranty' response! As far as I'm concerned, Paul's excellent work has paid for itself already.

There's very few things that I don't do myself on my vehicles as I hate to pay labour charges for something I could do myself, however I knew this was something that was worth getting done by the right person. Paul will tell you that some people think his prices are high, however I would disagree with that and know that his work will preserve the value of our motorhome for years to come, although just like my T6, I'm not planning on letting anyone else have it any time soon.

Fantastic news Mark and a good result.
Yeah, mention to a dealer that you've booked us to seal a Caravan or Motorhome when you initially purchase it, and they have conveniently never heard of us, but mention that we've found an issue and they soon remember. Selective memory.

Glad you're sorted

@Tourershine popped down to my place today to take a look at detailing my caravan. First up I’ll say that I am very happy with the result, but here’s some more detail......

My van is a 2002 Lunar Solar Eclipse and despite being pretty tidy inside for its age the outside was in serious need of some help. I have to admit that I don’t really look after it and the usual winter green had grown nicely this year and there were the usual black streaks under the windows. The single biggest problem though was the condition of the aging GRP front. All exterior plastics and vents were in pretty poor condition all round too.

Stupidly, I forgot to take any before pictures, but the van had long since lost its sparkle, the front was so dull and slightly rough to the touch, the rest of the van was filthy. I can get it clean, but the whole van always looks flat and dull.

Enter Tourershine. After several hours of cleaning, machine polishing, fettling and rain/hail/storm dodging the van looks mint.

Gone are all the usual green and black winter problems, but that’s the easy bit.

The most impressive thing is the finish of the whole van. the front end has a deep gloss to it and is silky smooth and the whole van is absolutely gleaming, with a shine that is arguably better than when it left the factory 18 years ago.

I would highly recommend Tourershine to anyone who needs to breath new life into their caravan or motor home exterior, you will not regret it!

I was also educated on how to maintain the current condition with advice and product recommendations. The caravan will remain looking as good as it does now for a long time to come.

The added bonus is that he drives a sweet looking T6 and is a top bloke too.

Any of you who have read this far in the hope that you’ll see some photos of the final result will be disappointed, I didn’t have time before it got dark! I’ll get some tomorrow and add them to the review.

I bought some tyres from @Tourershine for a really good price, and managed to collect them with very little notice. He also sorted me out some steel-wheel centre-caps when an eBay seller let me down.

Thoroughly decent and interesting bloke who’s as genuine as they come.
