Towing a broken down T6

Hi I've been told by someone that if your transporter (T6) breaks down/gets stuck in the mud etc there is a special type of tow bar/rope/fixing that is needed to attach to the front of your T6 before someone can tow you - otherwise using a normal towing rope will damage the front of your van.

Is this correct? - I've tried searching for it but every thing that comes back is about towing something with your Van, rather than needing to be towed

In the jack you should find a towing eye. This should screw into a hole in the front bumper (probably covered by a blank).

I wonder if they do a right hand threaded eye for those that have a left hand lay tow rope.

Non-rotational tow rope is best anyway, easier to handle, but don’t use Aramid as it will rip something off either vehicle as almost no stretch.

It does, would've helped if I'm read it properly though

My tow rope is stretchy anyhoo (never been used so don't know if it's any good!)

My 2021 van didn’t come with a towing eye if I buy one what panels need removing to fit it If it’s needed?

The towing eye should be attached to your jack, it all clips together
Theres a removable panel that reveals a threaded metal hole to screw it into, the piece between the two arrows is the removable bit

On my old T5 I didn’t have the OEM jack, or any towing eye. Much later I discovered that the front bench seat lifts up, and there was a pristine VW jack and all the bits! Clearly the previous owner didn’t know either, since there was another jack and wheel brace in the back!
