Just had the misfortune of going through what I thought was a puddle, no it was deep water new engine required, want to put a snorkle on the Van, but dont want one that comes out of the wing, but just sits under the bonnet, my reasoning if water is as high as the bonnet I really have big big probs, any view please

It might be moot, there's a lot of other things that can be damaged by the water anyway lower than that, particularly electrical wiring that can disable the van.

The plastic covers ripping off in water and damaging the AdBlue tank is a favourite by all accounts.

Snorkels also protect from debris ingestion in dusty/sandy environments getting the air intake high up, which is perhaps the more likely use of the aftermarket ones for T6 et al.
