Tried to fit aftermarket heated seat elements

I just tried to fit some aftermarket heated seat elements to my drivers seat:

Carbon Fibre Element Heated Seat Retrofit Kit for Single Seat

I have used these before. Unfortunately after removing the cover from seat base (T6 2017) I can see that the seat cover has long metal bars instead of hog clips holding the top area down in two places so these will never work. These metal bars span all the way to the edge. I think other covers usually have hog clips in a couple of places that the element can easily be cut around.

This makes me wonder how VW add heated elements to these seats. Any pointers welcome!

Thanks for this, I have just managed to find the thread. Very helpful. The elements that the chap uses are different to mine and can have chunks cut out of the sides and they can fold into the grooves where the wires are. My elements cant be folded apparently. Oh well.
