Uprated Locks For Increased Security On A Camper?

I've read the Autowatch Ghost thread with interest.
It's probably something I will do in the future to stop my valuable camper being stolen.
But before I do I would think the the first stage in security is to stop people having access into the vehicle.
This will also reduce the chance of items within the vehicle being stolen as well.
I've scrooled through the security thread and can't find anything on uprated locks?
I'm sure I've seen additional locks fitted to panel vans but is there little point fitting these when I have great big windows ready to be smashed? Though they are limo tint and almost impossible to see what's inside.

So what are people fitting or am I barking up the wrong tree?

You are definitely not barking up the wrong tree.

Stopping access to the vehicle is one layer of security and I rely on the deadlocking the van came with - this will stop the casual thief smashing a window and opening the door but, as well on not stopping anyone reaching/climbing in, will do nothing to stop someone who steals your keys in order to access/steal your van. I'm sure uprated locks are available but, again, if someone gets your keys, they get your van. As well as large windows that can be smashed to gain entry, if you have a pop-top, when camping there is also a large area of canvas providing easy access to your van.

Multiple layers of security is the way to go; stop them getting access (key security, decent locks, etc.), alarms to make a noise if they do get access, make it hard for them to start (e.g factory fit and/or aftermarket electronic immobiliser and/or mechanical immobiliser such as disklock, stoplock, pedal lock, clutch claw, etc.), new wave electronic immobilisers (e..g. Ghost), trackers, security marking (e.g. Smartwater) to make it harder for them to give the vehicle a new identity and/or strip down and pass the components on, etc., etc.

There is a multitude of products out there, and uprated locks is one thing you may want to investigate further, the key is (no pun intended), if you go down this route, do it in combination with a few other things as well.

Totally agree just got a Safetpedal off eBay to add to the steering wheel lock, if they really want it they’ll take it but make it as hard as possible...
