Urgent help needed, changing 9 seater to 8 seater

Today I had my nine seater shuttle converted to a 8 seater by Cambridge Campervans were I had a t6. 1 brand new seat fitted instead of the bench.

Now I have an air bag light on and Cambridge Campervans told me to contact my vw dealer to have it reset as the new seat has no airbag (I never realised the bench had one)

I contacted my local dealer who informed me it would have to be investigated by the factory as apparently as converting a 9 seater to an 8 seater is a major safety issue and would therfore be very expensive.

Can anyone help with any advice what I can do

It’s not really a safety issue. You will have to fool the van into thinking the original air bag is still there. This can be done with a simple resistor. There is info on here. The fault will then need to be reset using VCDS, Carista or similar.
