Valeo Alternator / Bosch Alternator

Hi just looking for some advice I have fitted a new alternator to my van the original one was a valeo I picked up a new one from the motor factors gave them the part number off the back of the alternator and they have matched it up for me but it seems like the one they have supplied me is a Bosch one will it be compatible as the plug has two pins in it ??

Valio one has one pin but the replacement one has two pins in it ?

How many wires is connected to your alternator plug?
Sounds like you have your new alternator already fitted, does it work?

No not fitted it yet just noticed they was different as my Valeo one only has one pin in it and the Bosch one has 2 in it and my plug on my van only has one

So there is nothing to worry about.
T6 by default uses smart charging and BATTERY REGULATOR(within BCM) communicates with alternator via LIN-BIS single wire (and obviously common GND).

Ok thank you I will double check with the factors tomorrow to make sure there’s definitely the right one and it’s a stop start one

You could always put your multimeter between the extra pin and the metal body and measure the resistance, to see if they are connected together.

Hi hope you dont mind me asking, I am looking to replace my alternator due to bearing going on it. However on the carparts site its coming pup with 2 varient one is 180amp and the other is 140 amps. does anyone know which one i should go for. VW T6 t30 2017

Hi mate in the end I went to A motor factors near me I had it refurbished and they give a three year warranty with it as well I’ve attached a picture of it

The alternator cost me £250 from Bedford Battery

The first place I went to gave me 180 amp alternator it wasn’t until I took mine off realise they gave me the wrong one that’s why I got mine refurbished instead but it was an exchange unit
