After getting feedback from the forum via - [T6] Glove Box Comfort Dash Choice To Make - Matte or Gloss Black - Vote ?
I have just installed a matte black Van-x comfort dash; and while it looks good, and it has an OK feel/texture to it - my overall opinion is sadly one of disappointment…..
For what’s fundamentally a shaped plastic box, with a swing lid - the door (lid) is very flimsy, it seems to mark easily from fingers and it can be very hit and miss where you press it to open it up (and even then, it’s only open up a crack, you then have to get the tip of your finger under it..
Yet it could have been some much more. I’d like to have seen a more solid feel/ thickness to the front plastic, some sort of mechanism/spring to pop it out further when being opened, and then when it is opened up, some type of latch that would allow it to stay up if you wanted it to ..
For approx £165, I’ll anticipate materials/manufacturing etc., would place it’s cost (at volume) at around the £35 - obviously that’s complete speculation on my part, plus there are other costs and profit to be made, by any company - which I get) - I just can’t help but feel like it lacks that quality feel, which adds to the feeling that it’s overpriced..
I’m not sure if the gloss black version is different, although it seems you get matching vents with that (nothing with the matte version).
How have others who have one - found it ?
