Vango Altona

Bagshot!

New Member
Good morning, I hope someone can help with the below questions?

I have the chance to buy a used Vango Altona Drive Away air awning, does anyone on here have one?

There doesn’t seem to be many reviews or ‘tours’ online of the tent for some reason.

I have 2 questions if anyone can help?

The ground sheet says detachable - has anyone experienced Vango detachable ground sheet, is it zipped to the tent so still secure, or is it toggled to it with loads of places open and flapping around?

Also can the universal Vango inner bedroom tent be hung up in there?

Thank you in advance to anyone that can help with my questions.

Morning Bagshot , i dont know the answer but looking at the sizes online just be aware of the overall footprint of any driveaway AND your van put togther.
Many of these driveaways are getting very wide and while this may be fine on many campsites you don't want the worry that your outfit wont fit when you get there.
A 'standard' sized pitch according to the CCC is 8x5m , the altona is 430cm plus the width of your van (roughly 2m) plus any guy ropes .
Many other awnings will be as wide (or even wider) but just something to bear in mind.

@Bagshot! all the vango awnings I've had with removable ground sheets have 4 toggles in the corners to attach it so yes gaps all round to be honest we have never used original GS just a heavy duty tarp if on hardstanding or nothing on grass pitches if their actually grassy and not all worn out
also have a look at the vango Cove its the Altona with a sewn in ground sheet.
In fact just looked it up the altona was exclusive to go outdoors.
sorry but cant help with the inner bedroom bit on an Altona but the cove does have provision so maybe you can if they were made the same but just renamed for go outdoors

It seems that this is a common concern with all awnings.
However, I believe you should be fine overall.
Every campsite equipped to accommodate a caravan, along with its awning and tow car should be big enough.

the tow cars are generally parked in the fire break part of the pitch so their not going to let you put the van or awning in that part of the pitch
