Vango Shangri La on a 1300 rib bed - anyone done it?

We had our first trip away in our freshly converted van this weekend. We loved everything about the van, except... The bed. We were given a thin memory foam topper by the wife's dad, but that seemed to have no effect at all. So, we were looking at either a duvulay, which everyone seems to rave about, or possibly going for the vango shangri la 10, as when packed that should fit nicely under the seat, and gives us a degree of adjustability in terms of firmness, etc. Question is, has anyone else done it? Will it fit? I realise It will make the bed a bit taller (and I've already hit my head twice on the overhead storage locker), but we really want to make it as comfortable as possible. Ta!

Not sure about the dimensions of your bed, but I have a Reimo Variotech 3000 (118cm seat width) in mine. I find it an uncomfortable bed even with a 5cm mattress topper. I bought a Vango Shangri-la 15cm double self inflating mattress (200x132cm) a couple of weeks ago. The width between the cupboards and the opposite wall is 128cm, so once inflated the mattress is a very snug fit. However, it lies flat with no curling along the edges touching the cupboards and van wall. It does get in the way of being able to open the cupboard doors, but a much thinner matress topper I used before did the same. It was easy and light enough to lift when I needed to get into a cupboard. It seems to takes a while to self-inflate (I didn’t time it) but can be deflated back down relatively easily (70x45cm according to the spec). I used it for the first time last weekend and had a good night’s sleep with no aches the following morning.
15cm deep might not be what you want, and some might think it is a bit bulky when packed, but have a look at the Funky Leisure website because their mattress prices were the cheapest I could find.

My main concern is currently where the kitchen pod comes in on one side. I've measured it and its 1870mm at the tightest point, with the mattress being 2000mm. We'll try both the 15 and 10, but the pack size of the 10 is attractive.

I hope you find something that works for you.
One thing to add is that I liked the valves used on the mattress I bought. One is a one way valve which is opened to inflate and the other is a one way valve opened to deflate. Air therefore does not return into the mattress during the deflation process which makes packing away easier, ie, no need to hold it in tension as it is rolled-up.

We have a 130 RIB and use the Vango Comfort Double 10 on ours. It’s a world away from just the bed it’s self. The only place it wrinkles a bit is the n/s rear pillar (the bit that’s cut out on the bed). We use a standard double fitted sheet and all is good. To be honest, we raise the parcel shelf slightly for comfort and that removes any overhang.

Update: attwoolls let us take their display model to the van and see if it would fit. Which it did, and it’s SUPER comfy. So we bought that, and 3 pillows (they didn’t have 2 shangri la pillows, so we could only buy one).
