Deciding to get VANMAX poptop - after seeing @Bigsidavies one and liking the slim sporty look.

we went to order one and then found out that they had gone out of business. . . .

"Vanmax are now supplied by Halifax Camoer conversions. Just not naming them Vanmax at the moment from what I can work out on social media.
They used to be the main installer of the Vanmax roof prior to Vanmax stopping production of the VW roof.
Iain no longer does Vanmax for VW. I know that Halifax Camper Conversions supplies and fits the Vanmax roof but they don’t call it van max. But they were the main fitter of Vanmax roofs when Iain manufactured them.
A company had bought the van max brand but has done nothing with it, so I’m not sure how that aligns with Halifax Campers."

Price includes slimline poptop roof with a scenic canvas fully retrimmed to choice of carpet lining with led lights fitted, yes of course we can fit the kitchen and bed for you we would have to discuss what exactly need doing before we can price this up like fridge hob and sink, gas and all electrics etc

Hey mate mine was fitted at halifax camper conversions.

Overall its been pretty good. No leaks, wind noise etc. I had them carpet line as well and that was a nice job and handy to get it back all done. they even gave me a few m of extra fabric. I spent ages trying to find one that was low and gave me enough headroom and i have had plenty of compliments. a 6ft2 person can sit in the back with my Cali bed and the roof which is a big bonus. The construction also gives good cable routing all the way round.

The only issues I have had is where the pneumatic ram is close to the roof support bar and i managed to slightly damage the canvas one time it was closed. I've been really careful since and its been ok. Also when fitting it had a little gap at the back i was going to go up and have adjusted but with a bit of time it settled down on its own.

Tip 1 would be to not only check your clear of the hinges check its in across the whole length. since i noticed I've been pulling the bungee that joins the two sides in and that keeps it well clear.

the other issue was the little controller for the light remote failed but that was a pretty ubiquitous so i bought another from amazon and popped it in. its also nice that you can get a few of the same remote that way and i have an STL file for a holder that works nicely.

As for them they seemed really nice and helpful, it was done on time. they offered to adjust the hinges immediately however i had a load of bits come up so didnt make it back up. would you like to have a look or a load of photos."

Michael did say that getting a BiFold bed was a bit pointless if we was having a fixed RIB bed and kitchen. - that makes sense i suppose.

we also asked about solar panel fitting - £200 approx.

we asked about Alcantara on the underside of the bed board - £100 approx.

he offered matching Cab Roof carpeting to match - TBC

we asked if the roof keeps the OEM roof bolts, it doesn't . . that means we loose our twin C-rails.

Michael did offer a solution though, Remo Multirails, well the Vanmoose brand - £275 supply & fit approx
