Vanshades Pod gaps on barn-doors

Hi Guys,

Another Vanshades question...

Trying to fit the latest Vanshades offering, Pod 2.0, to the barn doors on my T6.1.

Fixing in the three locations as suggested leaves the top outside corner floating free. It stands off the metal of the door by about 10-15mm and moves back and forth freely with minimal pressure. Vanshades say that, if required, the corner can be fixed with Sikaflex or similar, but there is no obvious place where suitable surfaces meet to allow for successful bonding, even if I remove some of the carpet from the Pod. I don't want to get Sikaflex on the window rubbers.

Has anyone else fitted these to their van? Do you just ignore the gap and get on with it? Does the lack of a permanent fixing led to vibration/rattles? Do I just splooge a pile of adhesive in the gap and hope for the best?

I have gone back to Vanshades for their comments, but I thought you guys might actually have some real world experience with these things?

Thanks

Mine are the same. There seems to be big gaps when the doors are open but when they are closed they look great and completely block out light which is what they are for.

Thanks Dude - glad to know I am not the only one - I guess I just have to tell my engineering brain/OCD to ignore it. I can't imagine they will rattle as everything is covered in fuzz. Worst case, I will use a lump of 3M Heavy Duty Double Sided Tape (the answer to a lot of life's small annoyances) and see if that holds the corner back.

One of mine rattled so used some 3M foam tape on it.
I am waiting for a response from Vanshades, I took a bunch of photos this morning as requested. My guess is they will say there is nothing wrong with the Pod and to make the best of it, in which case the double sided will come out of the shed.

My only objection here is that Vanshades sell these as engineered to fit exactly, and they don't -

Guaranteed fit

The design of a Window Pod® starts with the raw data we gather by laser scanning the vehicle. This data allows our designers to understand every curve of the window recess and incorporate this into our designs to ensure a snug fit.

Errrrr... nope!

Good point, well made.

The problem is, these are by far the best solution to a complete blackout, I don't want to be faffing with curtains. I will fit them as they recommend and see where we go.

Just this bit below, strikes me as a tad disingenuous.
