I just had a vanstyle bonnet protector delivered. Unfortunately it didn't contain any fitting instructions! This is the second vanstyle product I've had where they haven't bothered including instructions......I'm not impressed tbh.....has anyone fitted one? :(

The bra of deflector
I believe the fitting of either is a bit of a specialist art and warm hands are required for one of them

So, anyone out there fitted one of these? It's not rocket science but there are some bits that just don't seem to belong.......hmmmm???? Honestly, how much would it cost to throw some bloody instructions in!

here we go......there's 8 of everything. The strip of sticky pads.....presumably to protect the paint on the bonnet from being rubbed by those big black spacers are circular instead of rectangular, like the black spacers, so I'm looking on ebay for a small quantity of paint protection film to put on the bonnet before attaching the black spacers. Haven't a clue what those clear rubber "nipples" are for?IMAG1169.jpg IMAG1170.jpg IMAG1170.jpg

I had the same issue they sent me a PDF, anyhow the clear plastic plugs glue onto the upper underside of the deflector to stop it rattling against the bonnet.
The black connectors screw onto the bottom edge thence to the bonnet edge, finish with the screw caps.

Wongo.......did they supply you with some paint protection film to place under the black clips? Are those clear plugs really necessary.....presumably, they stick on using those circular stickers????

No paint protectors but it's not a bad price of kit, o would try it with the plugs first, I don't get any rattles or wind noise.

might those black spacers not wear through the paint.....I know they have felt on them but surely that'll get impregnated with dust and sh*t over time? I want to place some small clear paint protection film on the paintwork before I clip anything on.

Ok.... Here goes nothing....

Black clips clip onto bonnet edge first.. Screw hole on top of bonnet, bonnet paint protected by the felt in the clip.

Position the clips roughly.. On bonnet using deflector as a guide.

Then put screws in to plastic black cup, and insert through top of deflector, and screw into the clip underneath using the supplied threaded hole in the clip.

Repeat for all clips, this now means that the deflector is screwed on the clips and held on bonnet, do not put the screw caps on yet!

Now put the adhesive circles onto the large flat end of the rubbery bump stop thingies.. One each. As you do this, put the bump stop at the raised back edge edge of the deflector, this prevents this edge pushing down due to wind force.. Note sticky bit goes on deflector and not your paint..

Having done all that, tighten all the screws, and then put the black covers on the screw cups.

Job done.. Have a beer

Thanks Dave.....that makes perfect sense! Not sure that I think that bit of felt will protect the paint once it got some dust and dirt embedded.....I'm going to put some film on the bonnet first. Haha.....ChickenHawk........just read it for the second time! I've got a massive collection of military (mostly aviation related) books. CH is one of the best I've ever read!
Thanks again mate!
