Vw T5.1 brakes

Hi all,

I have a T5.1 biturbo 180 hp and recently somebody mentioned that I have different brakes than standard. I have 1 pot calipers and he said that all T5.1 biturbos came with 2 pot calipers. Does anybody has more information about this? Or was it an option and did the biturbo also came with 1 pot calipers?

Thanks in advance,

Daan

I have a 2015 T5.1 T30 Highline that came with "normal" brakes. Pretty sure for the later runs it was T32 only so yours is not unusual, potentially on the 5.1 it was always T32 only.

I've fitted the larger 2 pot brakes, they look great and work well. Not cheap to do though.

Yes. I finally got round to insulating/carpeting/leisure battery etc and the extra weight was noticeable when braking. Feel much happier with the new setup - fitted the @Nutexa Frictions grooved/dotted discs, painted the calipers etc so performance and looks :)
Really nice. Mine's a workvan with a lot of tools, so that's why I'm doubting the upgrade. I really do like the porsche big brakes, only I don't think they're worth the high price for me.

I'd only consider a proper big brake kit for looks to be honest, there's more than enough braking capability in the 340mm setup

Yeah, the big brake kit would only for the looks haha, got 20 inch alloys, so would like to fill them. But I'll probably go for the 340mm setup.

I run 18" Sportline rims so the 340 does the job for me. Still don't think they'd look small behind 20" but some silly 6 pots or something would definitely fill them
