Hi all - I'm new to this forum & I'm pleased to be here!

I'd like to make the community aware of a new improved solution of heater motor linkage which I have spent some time developing. It's now finalised and I'm hoping it might help some of the good folk here.

This problem has been discussed on the forum before and there are existing solutions available. The symptoms are that your heating is stuck at a temperature and wont change. If this has happened to you then you probably already know VW don't sell a decent version on its own so a remanufactured one is the only cost effective solution.

FIRST AND FOREMOST - I mean absolutely no disrespect to the existing solutions - they have done a great job helping out the community. But I have a particular set of skills which I've acquired over a long career and I have used them to come up with what I hope you will agree is a high quality product.

I'm a long serving mechanical design engineer & have been designing in the automotive industry 17+ years for some prestigious OEMs here in the UK. Recently I have moved into a senior structural simulation role. Designing is my passion and its what I spend my spare time doing too. I've recently started listing some of my designs on eBay.

Every aspect of this design has been carefully considered. There are no shortcuts and no weaknesses in the design or manufacture. I would love to bore you all with the technical details! But instead I'll leave the eBay listing below which gives you all that exciting info should you want to read it.

Hi romeorowe, welcome to the T6 Forum. Your history sounds interesting and I am sure that your development will be of interest. Their does appear to be some who experience problems with there heater controls. So well done and goo luck with your endeavours.

Awesome that you have done some redesigning for a better part. I have the same issue with the heater that was stuck on warm, I was able to slide the arm to the cool position by hand.
Is there a way of diagnosing weather the arm is broken or if its the motor?
I can not see any visible damage to the arms so I may have a dead motor.. thought??

Thanks! If you turn the ignition on and turn the temperature dial then that should prompt the motor to rotate in order to move the mixer flap via the above linkage. If the motor doesn't move then something is wrong, could be motor.

If the motor does turn but temperature doesn't change then could be the above linkage that has broken.

Interesting you should ask! I'm in the process of creating the 6.1 version - will post once I've got it dialled in.

Hi Tony, so glad I just found this, I've booked my van in to the garage to have this sorted and said i would supply the part, do you have any idea when your's might be ready to purchase? Thanks

Hi (I'm not Tony btw!!) I'm prototyping right now. I expect I'll have a finished design & process in a few days. Wont have it fit & function tested for at least a week. I'll post here once it's ready. Thanks

Just to keep you T6.1 guys in the loop - I'm pretty settled with my design and process now. Just waiting for the fit & function to confirm it. I can't let any go till I'm absolutely happy. Looking like this:
