VW T6 ex AA - rear fog light trailer hitch

Hello

First time poster here so go easy

I’m having an issue with my rear fog lights. They aren’t coming on. But when I plug my trailer in they are coming on. So the opposite from what they should be doing. I have a 7 pin connector.

I’ve plugged in my Carista and it’s come up with VAG fault 01517

Any help would be amazing
