I am trying to track down a VIN No. for a T6 TD400 LWB with a factory REAR Air Conditioner.
Can anyone supply me their VIN No. please.
My Compressor has packed it in and I want to put a bigger one in now so I can get a rear aricon installed later (I don't even know if they are bigger, but they must be, but no seems to know)
As always, my VW dealer is having trouble finding out if he can get a compressor without an actual VIN No.
If you are not comfortable sending me the VIN no. you can do it in a private message or as an alternative, contact "Youngs on the highway" in Geraldton WA, Australia directly and ask for Kyle. Their email is on the website.
Spare parts beyond your own vehicle has always been a problem for VW dealers, why is it so hard to find parts......
Thanks

We run a LWB Kombi with front and rear air conditioning. I presume this is what you are after? Not sure what the TD400 means?

Ours is a 204PS. Do you want the chassis. It's only thevents in the roof but I'm sure this is what you want. We also run a caravelle exec with full rear air con if you want the chassis for that too, but it's SWB

Do you know if they put in a bigger compressor when they fit a rear evaporator in the factory?

Hi, I have just joined the forum, this is my first post.
My business is installing aftermarket aircon systemsand diesel heaters in specialist vehicles. One of my customers builds a coach built 16 seat minibus based on the T6, they cut the cab off and build a low floor body onto that. I tap into the factory aircon system and add a rear evaporator with 9 Kw capacity, this uses the standard compressor and condenser and works fine, so I think you can replace your compressor with a standard unit and add a rear evaporator and it will work fine.

Thanks for your reply. That is good news. INteresting conversion, would love to see a photo or 2! I am in Australia though, on the edge of the dessert in a green van. It does get to 45 degrees here on some days. Van gets real hot! I suppose the main thing I am trying to establish is that when VW put in a rear air conditioner unit, do they put in a larger compressor. I had a T4 transporter that had a rear a AC unit. I had it re-gassed a few times but it never seemed to work too well. I always suspected that the compressor may have been undersized. I am hoping by getting the VIN Nos. to my local dealer, he may be able to tell me unless someone on the Forum can confirm if a larger compressor is used or not.

The vehicles that I work on come with just the single in-dash evaporator, I doubt that VW fit a different compressor for a twin evap system. When up rating a cooling system, it is often best to increase the condensing capacity before going for a higher rated compressor. I recently built some systems on Fiat Ducati based busses that were shipped out to Australia and they had the factory a/c and a second compressor running a roof mounted evaporator.

This is the type of T6 based coschbuilt bus that I install aircon and heating on, also do some coding as well

Flipping heck, that transporter has a mahoosive forehead!

IMG_0402.JPG Another pic from the front, it starts out as a 180 DSG startline. The cab is cut off behind the drivers seat and a stainless steel space frame is welded on with fabricated rear suspension and airbags carrying T6 hubs and brakes.
